The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority has expressed concern over non-compliance with the service of notices.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Abimbola Emdin-Umeh, the authority condemned some property owners and developers in Lagos State for consistently ignoring notices served on their properties to halt construction or present required planning permits.

The General Manager of LASPPPA, Kehinde Osinaike, asserted that despite repeated visits to the site and the issuance of contravention notices, the involved entities had consistently failed to comply.

He recalled, “I remember during the latest visit in December 2023, aggressive measures were taken by the property occupants, including setting dogs on the Monitoring and Compliance Units of LASPPPA to hinder entry to the site.

“On January 31, of this year, LASPPPA, in collaboration with Eti-Osa North District Officers, had to resort to dismantling parts of the structures after being obstructed by dogs during an enforcement exercise.”

Osinaike expressed disappointment in developers’ resistance to government officials.

He added, “Failure to present the planning permit will result in document revocation and structure demolition.”

Osinaike urged all developers, owners, and buyers to refrain from obstructing LASPPPA officials and comply with town planning laws.

He encouraged them to promptly address any notices issued by LASPPPA.

In 2022, the agency sealed over 137 properties in different parts of the state due to building irregularities.
