Ground breaking of five new housing projects have been inaugurated in different locations of Ilorin metropolis, the Kwara state capital
Speaking at the official commissioning of Kwara state headquartres of T Pumpy concept in Ilorin on Wednesday, the CEO of the land and housing agency, Mr. Adaralegbe Akintayo, said that the aim was to create a new modern city in the state capital.
Mr. Adaralegbe, who said that the land projects located at Oko Olowo, Oke Oyi and Elemere communities of the Ilorin metropolis are programmed to target civil servants and low income earners in the state, said that Nigeria still had millions of housing deficit to cater for.
“Statistics from current study shows that the country still has millions of housing deficit. Within six years of our existence we’ve done 15,000 housing projects. We aim to get to a 100,000 in the next one year and Kwara state would not be left out.
“Part of legacy a man needs to have before his death is to own a house, marry and have children and write a book. With any of the three, your legacy would not be eradicated. In Kwara state, we have 10,000 plots of land space for immediate acquisition of prospective home owners. We’re trying to make it easy for people to own property without stealing.
“If you look at average salary of a Level 8 public officer in the state, it is not up to N70,000. So, how do you expect such a person to buy a land worth N1million? How many years would it take him to achieve that when he has to pay school fees, house rents and provide for the family?
“So, now every civil servant that can contribute N20,000 a month is part of our programme. Okada man that can contribute N500 a day can also be part of our project. We’re not only for bourgeois, we’re also for common people.
To address housing deficit, we’re selling a land of N399,000. It’s a land you can take its immediate possession. It already has perimeter fence and gate among other infrastructure. So, you don’t need to steal to own a land.
Adaralegbe also said that the property are located at Oke Oyi, Oko Olowo, and Elemere communities of the state capital, where he said that N120,000 can get land.
The company, which has Nollywood artistes, top musicians and entertainers as its brand ambassadors, later took awareness campaign round the city in a motor cade.
Some of the ambassadors of the company like Queen Tayo Sobola, Femi Adebayo, Oladele Oluwafemi aka Femi Solar, who spoke with journalists, assured people that the company is reliable with proven integrity to provide opportunities for prospective home owners at affordable rate.
