The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in conjunction with Nuga Best International said it is working to address the housing deficit in the country and deliver affordable housing units to Nigerians as part of the agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the FHA Golden Jubilee Estate at Mbora II District, Abuja.
Ashafa noted that the estate will contribute approximately 7,000 distinct residential units to Nigerians.
He said the FHA will commence with an initial 1,200 units, through a Public-Private Partnership ( PPP ) with Nuga Best Regis International.
He stated that the estate will be serviced with the standard infrastructure that characterizes everyday developments.
This, he said, includes a secure perimeter, reliable power and water supply, well-maintained roads, retail customer defense, and law enforcement facilities.
According to Ashafa “We will go back to the mandate of Mr. President, we will provide mortgages for an average Nigerian.
“Our resolve remains unwavering, selflessly committed to our core mandate of providing housing solutions for the citizens of Nigeria.
“This estate will be serviced with the standard infrastructure that characterizes every day developments. This includes a secure perimeter, reliable power and water supply, well-maintained roads, retail customer defense and law enforcement facilities”.
The Chairman, NUGA Best International & Regis Integrated Services Limited Partnership (LP), Pastor Hillary Chukwuma noted that the estate which sits on about 200 hectares of land is designed with plans for schools, hospitals, recreation centers, markets, shopping malls, filling station, police station amongst others.
Chukwuma stated that the estate is for Nigerians who are having housing challenges.
He noted that the commencement of the estate was a rigorous process that passed through all laid down government processes and procedures.
“We commend the FHA for opening
doors to the private sector to invest in the provision of houses to Nigerians.
“The development of this estate which promises about 7,000 housing units in all will implode the housing challenge Nigeria is currently facing”.
On his own part the Managing Director, of NUGA Best International & Regis Integrated Services Limited Partnership (LP), Mr. Hassan Turaki called on communities to cede lands to the federal government for development.
The FHA gas has given us 30 months but our target is 24 months to finish construction. We don’t intend to waste any time here, we are going to commence work immediately.
” When we came there were a lot of encroachment of the land but we don’t want to wait until every portion of the land is recovered before we commence work.
” As they are recovering the lands, we are progressing. Turaki said.
