The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) remains committed to upholding the tenets of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2019 in its operations and provision of affordable housing services. The law prohibits discrimination against persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

The MD/CE, FMBN, Mr. Madu Hamman, represented by the Executive Director, Business and Portfolio Services, Mr. Kingsley Chukwuma stated this in a recent meeting with a delegation from the Disability Advancement Initiative (DAI), an advocacy group.

Mr. Hamman said FMBN maintains a robust policy of non-discrimination against persons with disabilities. This includes building an inclusive work environment, incorporating ramps in office buildings and employment opportunities.

He also noted that as a new Management, the Bank would also ensure enhanced collaboration with disability advocacy groups such as DAI to ensure that eligible persons with disabilities have increased access to FMBN affordable housing products and consideration in the Bank employment plans.

In his remarks, the Executive Director, DAI, Mr. Obina Ekujerene, passionately urged FMBN Management to ensure continued implementation of the Disability Act as part of its contributions to providing a better life for Persons Living with disabilities (PWDs).
